The Israeli army continues the military operation in the West Bank

Israel launched an airstrike in the West Bank on Friday as its large-scale military operation in the territory entered its third day. Both sides reported at least 16 Palestinians killed. The United Nations has warned that the military operation that Israel launched in the West Bank on Wednesday is “exacerbating the dangerous situation” in the territory and is urging Israel to end it. In the United States, Vice President Kamala Harris vowed not to change Washington's policy on supplying arms to Israel if she wins the election in November. But she emphasized that it is time to end the war. Israel has said the raids on towns and refugee camps across the West Bank are “counter-terrorism” operations. The military said one of its “planes struck a terrorist base” near the city of Jenin early Friday, but gave no further details. Israeli troops withdrew from other West Bank cities late Thursday, but fighting flared around Jenin, which has long been a center of militant activity. The Israeli military said it killed seven militants on Thursday, including five militants in the Tulkarem refugee camp.
