Frankfurt — Germany said Friday it was deporting Afghans back to their country, the first deportations since the Taliban government returned to power in August 2021 amid pressure on Berlin to crack down on migration. “They are Afghan citizens, all convicted criminals who have no right to reside in Germany and have been issued deportation orders against them,” government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said in a statement.
