The Brazilian court suspends the activity of the X network in that country

Brazil's Supreme Court on Friday ordered the suspension of social network X across the country after tech billionaire and network owner Elon Musk refused to appoint a legal representative in the country, according to a court ruling seen from the Associated Press news agency. Judge Alexandre de Moraes warned Mr Musk on Wednesday that the X network could be blocked in Brazil if he refused to comply with his order to appoint a representative and set a 24-hour deadline. Company X has not had a representative in the country since the beginning of this month. Judge De Moraes said that the platform will be blocked until the implementation of his decision on the appointment of the representative. Brazil represents an important market for the X network, which has faced a loss of advertisers since Mr Musk bought the platform in 2022. According to the data of the “Emarketer” agency, about 40 million Brazilians, or approximately one fifth of the population, have access to the X network at least once a month.
