The rapid increase in the use of e-cigarettes is creating a wave of pollution and has raised serious concerns for the environment. The Voice of America correspondent reports on the efforts of a woman in New York City to improve the situation. In Brooklyn, New York City, Nora is checking one of the many e-cigarette recycling bins. She has placed these boxes herself in shops and clubs. “We are now going to the Mason Jar store in Brooklyn to see the recycling box, where people put e-cigarettes after they have been used, which will then be recycled as electronic devices,” says Nora. She says she started her recycling efforts because of e-cigarettes she saw discarded on city streets. “What do I do with electronic cigarettes? I send them to electronics recycling. “New York City has designated places where people can bring their electronics once a week,” says Nora. Her initiative aims to combat the ever-growing problem of pollution from e-cigarettes. However, activists say the challenges are great. “We dispose of over four e-cigarettes every second in this country.
