Georgia School Shooting Suspect's Father Arrested

WINDER, Georgia — The father of a 14-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting four people at a Georgia high school and wounding nine others was arrested Thursday, authorities said, and faces charges including manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter for allowing his son to have a gun. It is the latest example of prosecutors holding parents accountable for their children's actions in school shootings. In April, Michigan parents Jennifer and James Crumbley became the first people convicted in a mass school shooting in the United States. They were sentenced to at least 10 years in prison for failing to secure guns in their home and ignoring signs of their son’s deteriorating mental health before he killed four students in 2021. Colin Gray (54), Colt Gray's father, was charged with four counts of involuntary murder, two counts of manslaughter and eight counts of cruelty to children, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said at a news conference.
