The EU welcomes the announcement of the indictment in the case of Banjska – a call to Serbia for cooperation

The European Union welcomed on Thursday the announcement of the indictment by the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo against the persons involved in the attack a year ago in the village of Banjska in the north of the country, while emphasizing that it expects the cooperation of Serbia in this matter. “The European Union has consistently and repeatedly expressed its expectation that all those responsible and involved in this brutal attack will be held accountable in an orderly process.” said European Union spokesman Peter Stano, underlining that the bloc's position has been clear since the event a year ago and that it expects Serbia to cooperate fully in the investigation of this attack. On September 24, 2023, a group of armed Serbs attacked the Kosovo police in the village of Banjskë in the north of the country, killing police officer Afrim Bunjaku. Three members of the group were killed during the clashes that lasted almost the whole day. On Wednesday, the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo announced the indictment against 45 people for involvement in the attack. Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti said on Thursday that the indictments for the case in Banjska could have been filed much earlier. …
