Two Serbs accused of war crimes

Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo filed an indictment on Monday against two members of the Serbian community on suspicion of war crimes against the civilian population during the 1998-1999 war. In an announcement from the prosecution, it is stated that the suspects, who were identified with the initials MP and Zh.Z, are accused of murder, torture, inhumane treatment, intimidation, destruction of property, mass deportation and ethnic cleansing of the civilian population of Albanian nationality in the municipality of Istog in western Kosovo “Investigations have revealed that during the time period related to the indictment, there were two cases of rape of victims of Albanian nationality. Also, during the investigations, it was proven that during the period of the war, in the municipality of Istog, about 5,000 houses were burned, about 250 people were killed, 19 children were victims, and a lot of material damage was caused,” the announcement states.
