Russian Missile Kills 41 in Poltava

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian missiles struck and killed at least 41 people and injured 180 others in the Poltava region on Tuesday (3/9). In Telegram Zelenskyy said two ballistic missiles hit the area, including an educational institution and a hospital. Officials in the Zaporizhzhia region say a Russian attack on a hotel killed two people and wounded two others. Russian forces attacked areas in central and eastern Ukraine with four missiles and 35 drones, while Ukrainian air defenses shot down 27 of the 35 drones, the Ukrainian military said Tuesday. The Ukrainian Air Force said its air defenses shot down drones over Chrnichiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava and Sumy. Chernihiv Governor Viacheslav Chaus said on Telegram that falling debris damaged several buildings outside the city of Chernihiv and injured two people. By Syniehubov, the governor of Kharkiv, on Telegram said the Russian airstrike damaged a house and a transport facility. Ukraine's state railway company reports a Russian drone attacked a locomotive in Sumy.
