A political analyst said Republicans ought to be alarmed over a new Fox News poll that he said shows a "consistent story" that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has closed the gap against Donald Trump in key Sun Belt states.Fox News sent out statewide surveys to 1,000 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina. The surveys were conducted after the Democratic National Convention and after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. endorsed Trump."Harris is up by 1 percentage point in Arizona and by 2 points in Georgia and Nevada, while Trump is ahead by 1 point in North Carolina. All are within the margin of sampling error," Fox News said.Analyst Astead Herndon — reacting to CNN's Erin Burnett on Wednesday evening who said Fox News' previous poll showed the race was "not close and that Trump was up by 7 points — said "This should be an alarming fact for the Trump campaign."ALSO READ: Trump’s RFK Jr. endorsement actually helps Harris"I think the trend line has been so consistent, if they are not alarmed, there's probably something wrong there," said Herndon.Herndon added that Trump's campaign is "flailing" as it has failed to find a consistent attack that can land against Harris and hasn't broken through the news cycle.Trump's recent moves to bring in Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., he noted, don't expand his "tent" to voters, whom Herndon said Trump is "bleeding by this moment." "What is happening here is Democrats have a much higher upside and are now capitalizing on that because they have a candidate that can do as such," he said. Harris' campaign has proven the tangible "impact" of small donations, Herndon added, noting it can now invest in states like Georgia while protecting places "they need to win" after raising hundreds of millions of dollars. "It's Donald Trump now that's under the political and the financial pressure," he said, "most of which is of his own making to not be able to have the ground game that he should by this point."Watch the clip below or at this link.
