About 15 kilometers from the Johnson Space Center, a Houston-area church took time during its Wednesday Bible study and Sunday evening service to pray for two members who were unable to attend. It is true that NASA astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Tracy Dyson would not have been able to visit Providence Baptist Church. They were in space, orbiting the planet Earth. More specifically, the two members were working together on the International Space Station (ISS). Like many astronauts before them, they took their faith with them as they launched into space. “God uses all of us in very good ways, and I think I get the most joy out of what I do in that,” Dyson said, speaking about his work on the “Bible Project” podcast ahead of his March launch aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft. Dyson's six-month mission is not scheduled to end until September, but Wilmore and fellow NASA test pilot Suni Williams were supposed to return to Earth a few weeks ago.
