'No ears were harmed': Wife of Trump impeachment witness spurs outrage with 'vile' comment

A suspect reportedly planned to assassinate Donald Trump on Sunday, but the former president walked away unharmed. This led to a statement by the wife of a key Trump impeachment witness, but the comment is not going over well. Trump over the weekend was golfing on his own course when the Secret Service reportedly saw a firearm sticking out from behind a bush. Authorities say they engaged and fired shots at the individual, who dropped his weapon and fled. Rachel Vindman, co-host of The Suburban Women Problem podcast and the wife of Retired Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who testified against Trump in the ex-president's first impeachment, was quick to weigh in on the event. The comment wasn't received well from allies or opponents of the ex-president. Republican state delegate Sarah Fields replied with, "Man. You’re really making your party look so wholesome." Brandon Straka, who led the "Walk Away" campaign in 2020 that encouraged liberals to abandon the Democratic Party, responded with, "Thank you for admitting that you don’t actually care about gun violence." "I mean this sincerely. It’s refreshing when you guys experience brief moments of honesty and transparency," Straka added. Conservative influencer Paul A. Szypula also chimed in: "You’re a horrible human for making light of this ass*ss*n*tion attempt on President Trump." Breitbart correspondent Kristina Wong called the statement a "vile comment from a vile person." Senior Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita mistakenly thought Rachel Vindman was married to Alexander Vindman's brother, Eugene Vindman, who is a current candidate for office."Her husband …a candidate for VA 7 …should condemn immediately," LaCivita said. Even former Tea Party lawmaker turned independent, anti-MAGA critic Joe Walsh condemned Rachel Vindman's remarks. "This is a really s----- tweet. I’m no fan of Donald Trump, but what happened this afternoon was a potential assassination attempt on a candidate for President," Walsh said Sunday. "That’s serious and must be condemned by all of us. Be better than this."
