Reacting to reports that the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is pushing back at efforts by Donald Trump's lawyers to have the results of his 34-felony count hush money trial tossed on immunity grounds, MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin claimed there's more at play than whether Judge Juan Merchan will agree.Appearing on Friday's "Morning Joe," Rubin said the ruling could come down on Sept. 6 which could be problematic with a proposed presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on tap at about the same time.Speaking with fill-in host Jonathan Lemire, she explained, "Well, first of all, the judge has to make a determination about whether or not there is going to be a sentencing, but what's really important here, and I think this plays into the political calendar here, too, is that the judge has already committed he is going to make a decision about whether to set aside the verdict by September 6th."ALSO READ: Boebert, MTG and far-fight friends derail Speaker Mike Johnson’s summer plans"So when you hear the Trump campaign sort of backing away from the 'Anytime, anyplace, we'll debate Joe Biden,' which should have applied to Kamala Harris, as well, note that part may be contingent on what is going to happen on September 6th," she elaborated. "If this conviction is upheld as many people suspect, you can understand why Trump would be very eager to avoid a debate with the person we are all referring to now as the person who is prosecuting the case, the biggest case, against Donald Trump," she claimed.Watch below or at the link here.
