Area school districts vote to skip daily prayer

Board members of Knippa, La Pryor, and Sabinal’s school districts voted to forego a daily period of prayer during school hours, rejecting one facet of the religious revamp to public education that Texas lawmakers designed last year. Senate Bill 11 requires school boards to vote on providing a period of prayer and reading of the bible or another religious text by March 1.
