Trump meets with Starmer at White House

U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the Oval Office of the White House. The leaders are expected to discuss a range of important issues, including establishing peace in Ukraine, according to a Ukrinform correspondent. The British Prime Minister arrived at the White House on Thursday afternoon local time. Trump personally stepped outside to greet him at the entrance before they continued their discussion in the Oval Office. The schedule includes an expanded-format meeting and an official lunch. Later on Thursday, the American and British leaders will hold a press conference to share the results of their talks. Starmer is the second European leader to meet with the U.S. President this week. On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron visited the White House and discussed, among other topics, ending Russia’s war in Ukraine. As reported by Ukrinform, before his visit to Washington, Keir Starmer called on the United States to provide a "protective mechanism" for any future European peacekeepers in Ukraine. He emphasized that such a measure would ensure lasting peace for Ukraine rather than just a temporary ceasefire with Russia.
