Ukrainian Defense Industry JSC (Ukroboronprom) and Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of ammunition production and equipment maintenance. Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin announced this in Telegram, Ukrinform reports. “Yesterday [February 3], Ukroboronprom and Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation… It outlines the agreements between the defense industries of Ukraine and Poland on cooperation,” the report says. According to Smetanin, this includes the production of ammunition, maintenance of armored vehicles and artillery, and the strengthening of air defenses. In addition, the parties plan to develop financial mechanisms to attract the tools and funds provided by the European Defence Industrial Strategy (EDIS) and the European Defense Industrial Programme (EDIP). The Minister emphasized the importance of Poland's support. “This support is of immense value in the context of the Ukrainian defense industry's current development. At present, there is a significant demand for explosives and critical components. To this end, it is essential to deepen cooperation not just at the level of defense companies, but also at the level of industries,” Smetanin added. As reported, the Polish company Seco/Warwick, a producer of industrial furnaces, has lost a defense contract in Ukraine following an investigation that revealed its cooperation, along with several other Western firms, with the Russian defense industry.
