President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will find a way out of the situation in connection with the US government's decision to cut off USAID funding. He said this in an interview with The Guardian, Ukrinform reports. “We aren’t going to complain that some programmes have been frozen, because the most important thing for us is the military aid and that has been preserved, for which I’m grateful … If the American side has the possibility and desire to continue its humanitarian mission, we are fully for it, and if it doesn’t, then we will find our own way out of this situation,” the head of state said. As reported by Ukrinform, on January 20, US President Donald Trump signed a decree suspending all foreign aid programs for 90 days pending inspections to determine whether they meet his political goals. On January 24, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered a “shutdown” of all foreign aid, with the exception of Gaza and Sudan. The central office of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) did not open on February 3, and its employees were notified not to come to work. Later, the Secretary of State said that the suspension of US foreign aid and the winding down of the USAID agency was due to the need to verify payments, stop inappropriate programs, and keep the aid “that makes sense.” The Office of the President of Ukraine said that the grant funds that came to Ukraine through USAID are planned to be compensated through the state and regional budgets, as well as through loans and other international donors.
