Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy have discussed agreements on the procurement of air defense systems and missiles, as well as the organization of repair bases for military equipment. Shmyhal reported this on the Telegram messaging app, according to Ukrinform. "Last week, the government approved a bill on the ratification of a defense agreement with the United Kingdom, and yesterday it was supported by the Verkhovna Rada. This will allow us to receive up to GBP 2 billion for the procurement of air defense systems and missiles, as well as for the organization of repair bases for military equipment and other weaponry. With Minister Lammy, we discussed the implementation of this agreement and the arrangements between the UK Prime Minister and the President of Ukraine. We are counting on swift and close cooperation," he wrote. Shmyhal expressed gratitude to British partners for announcing a GBP 55 million support package, which marks the beginning of the implementation of the One Hundred Year Partnership Agreement with Ukraine. According to him, part of the funds will be allocated by the UK for energy sector projects, and the parties discussed cooperation in this area. "We thank the government and people of the United Kingdom for their unwavering support of Ukraine during the full-scale war with Russia," Shmyhal added. Lammy arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday, February 5. He has already discussed the practical implementation of the 100-year partnership agreement with Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
