Ukrainian Parliament Ratifies 100-Year Partnership Agreement with the United Kingdom

On Wednesday, September 17, the Verkhovna Rada ratified a century-long partnership agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the parliament’s press service reported. The decision was approved by 295 lawmakers. The agreement establishes a new long-term framework for bilateral cooperation covering security, defense, the economy, science, technology, and cultural ties. Ukraine and the U.K. signed the historic 100-year partnership agreement on January 16 to deepen security ties and strengthen partnership for future generations. The agreement builds on a security pact signed on January 12, 2024. Effectively, the new agreement expands Kyiv-London cooperation in security and extends it from a ten-year to a century-long term. The document covers collaboration in security and defense, maritime affairs, the economy, energy, justice (including international law), countering disinformation, and more.
