Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin and Advisor to the President on Strategic Issues Oleksandr Kamyshin held a series of meetings with the leadership of Czech defense companies, agreeing to expand partnership in the production of defense goods. Smetanin reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports. "Every trip is a chance to establish cooperation and strengthen existing ties between industries. During a business trip to the Czech Republic, together with Advisor to the President on Strategic Issues Oleksandr Kamyshin, we met with representatives from several defense companies," the report says. According to Smetanin, the discussion with PBS focused on cooperation in the field of new joint commercial and engineering projects in aerospace, defense, and energy industries. With COLT CZ and Česká Zbrojovka, the Ukrainian officials discussed the ongoing projects, including licensed production of Bren-2 rifles. The minister emphasized that this cooperation will be deepened by transferring to Ukraine production capacities for the production of semi-automatic weapons. “In the future, we plan to create a new Ukrainian assault rifle,” added Smetanin. Meetings were also held with the management of Omnipol, LPP, AMOS. During these meetings, we discussed partnership in the field of maintenance and production of aviation equipment, ammunition, manufacture of UAVs and components, etc. “I thank the Czech defense companies for their partnership with their Ukrainian counterparts. The first results of such cooperation are already there, and I hope we will soon be able to reveal them. And in the meantime, we are working on the implementation of the agreements reached,” the Minister noted. As reported, Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin discussed with Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkinen the possibility of deepening cooperation in the defense industry.
