New Chair of German Bundestag Defence Committee visits Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts

The newly elected chairman of the Bundestag Defence Committee Marcus Faber has made his first visit abroad to Ukraine instead of traditionally going to a neighbour state. This was reported by MP Yehor Cherniev, the head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly on his Facebook account. "Together with Marcus [...] we immersed ourselves in many practical issues, up to the quality of certain types of shells for German self-propelled artillery systems and parts that are essential for the repair of equipment. We have identified certain critical issues that need to be addressed right away, and Marcus promised to help immediately upon his return to Germany. And I know he will help," Cherniev wrote. The German politician was able to witness a German Panzerhaubitze 2000 destroy a Russian howitzer and its ammunition. On X, Faber himself noted that Ukrainians still lacked artillery shells but that made them invent new things Germany could adopt as well. He emphasized on the importance of drone technologies in Ukraine as the Armed Forced of Ukraine had learnt to use them instead of artillery. On June 14, Germany announced a new military package boosting Ukraine's air defence capabilities with IRIS-T.
