Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ukraine for the first time since the full-scale invasion of Russia. The specific date of the visit has not yet been announced. Reuters reported this with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India. The foreign policy department of the country promised to publish the details of the visit later. Reuters notes that India has refrained from directly blaming Russia for the war, while urging its neighbors for dialogue and diplomacy. New Delhi seeks to deepen its relations with the West, while maintaining ties with its old friend Russia. The publication notes, that Western capitals have imposed sanctions on Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, but friendly nations such as India and China have continued to trade with it. The United States has expressed concerns about India's relationship with Russia, particularly as Washington aims to bolster its ties with New Delhi to serve as a potential counterbalance to a rising China.
