The Netherlands has issued a warning about Russian hacking operations targeting Western aid to Ukraine.

The Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) has issued a warning about Russian cyber operations by the GRU's 29155 unit. Dutch Ministry of Defense reported, "European Pravda" informed. According to MIVD, hackers from this Russian military intelligence unit are focused on obtaining information about Western aid to Ukraine and undermining it. Their operations mainly target Western governments and critical infrastructure. "Together with our partners, we have decided to expose the methods of this notorious Russian cyber unit. This allows everyone to see how they operate and better defend against these far-reaching attacks and espionage. This concerns not only governments but also manufacturers and suppliers of military equipment for Ukraine." Dutch Defense Minister, Ruben Brekelmans, stated MIVD Director Vice Admiral Pieter Reesink emphasized that, while the Netherlands has not yet fallen victim to cyber operations against its critical infrastructure, the threat posed by this actor is increasing. He further mentioned that these operations are targeting the logistics sector in countries providing aid to Ukraine, with the Netherlands being a key transit country. In a joint international operation, Estonia's Security Police (KaPo) confirmed that this military unit under the GRU has conducted cyberattacks against Ukraine, as well as NATO and EU countries, including Estonia, since 2020.
