Russian Full-Scale Offensive Stalls for Several Months

Russia’s battlefield losses have exceeded the number of newly recruited soldiers for three consecutive months, a development that could affect President Vladimir Putin’s ability to launch large-scale offensives against Ukraine in the coming months, Bloomberg reports. Throughout the full-scale invasion, Moscow had managed to recruit between 30,000 and 35,000 troops per month. However, current casualty rates now surpass those figures, raising the prospect of broader mobilization, UATV English reports. UK Armed Forces Minister Al Carns suggested that one possible option for the Kremlin would be to expand recruitment efforts in major Russian cities rather than relying primarily on poorer rural regions. However, such a move could risk eroding political support in densely populated urban areas. “We are seeing a disproportionate rise in casualties, and the economic situation in Russia is beginning to look quite unstable, especially as summer approaches,” Carns said. According to Western officials cited by Bloomberg, Russia may choose to concentrate its offensive efforts on the so-called “fortress belt” in the Donetsk region. Another possible option would be to resume advances toward Zaporizhzhia. The post Russian Full-Scale Offensive Stalls for Several Months appeared first on Freedom.
