Beenie Man may not eat doubles, but has eaten his words. In a video post on social media on February 6, the Jamaican dancehall artiste apologised profusely to Trinidadians around the world who ate doubles. Moses “Beenie Man” Davis was referring to an interview on the popular US podcast Drink Champs on February 1, when he said he loved TT the best after his homeland, but he did not eat doubles because dogs did not eat it. He said he never disrespected Trinidad. It was just his experience that he tried to eat doubles, but when he threw it for a stray dog, it refused to eat it. “It’s like if you ask a rasta if he does eat pork.” He said he did not mean to hurt or offend anyone, he should have kept his opinion to himself and he never should have said it on the podcast. “When I say it was a joke, it doh sound jokey-full. Mi just wah fe know say I nah disrespect no Trinidadian. None a’tall. None a’tall. None a’tall.” He reiterated that he loved Trinidad. He said when he had nothing to do he visited the country, often came for Carnival and Trinidadian cricketer Dwayne Bravo was one of his best friends. He said he was speaking from his heart and it would never happen again. “I’m not here to offend my fans or anybody. I’m not here to offend the people that support the music. I’m not here to offend the people that support Trinidad. I’m sorry.” The post Beenie Man sorry about doubles comment appeared first on Trinidad and Tobago Newsday.
