Southern Division police arrested 18 people for various offences in an anti-crime operation on March 21. The operation took place in the San Fernando district between 4 am and 9 am. Officers from the San Fernando police station and La Romaine police post arrested ten people for offences such as possessing ammunition and marijuana and for larceny of a car. The officers also seized five rounds of .45 ammunition and four rounds of 5.56 ammunition. In a separate intelligence-led operation, eight more people were arrested for possessing 63 grammes of marijuana, 23 grammes of cocaine, camouflage clothing and ammunition and for using obscene language. Snr Supt Kirk, Supt Singh, ASP Ramsaran, Insp Maharaj, and Sgt Nandlal co-ordinated the operation, which Sgt Seecharan and Cpl Huggins led. Investigations are ongoing.
