National youth sport camps begin August 12

Hundreds of children from ages seven to 17 will join Youth Sport Camps 2024, weekdays from August 12-23 at venues across Trinidad and Tobago. There are 30 indoor and outdoor camps, including 13 in Tobago, between 9 am and 2 pm. Participants will be introduced to 18 sporting disciplines: athletics, basketball, boxing, cricket, chess, cycling, dragon boat racing, football, futsal, golf, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rugby, tennis, sailing, swimming and volleyball. Registration for the camps is free, and lunch will be provided to participants. Youth Sport Camps is a flagship development programme that seeks to introduce children to a variety of sports during the July-August vacation period. It encourages participants to get active, develop new sporting skills and increase their interest in sport, while learning new life skills. The camps are hosted by the Sports Company (SporTT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and the I Choose Sport initiative. To register children for the camps, parents and guardians can visit https://forms.office.com/r/unBT08fB7v and fill out the forms required or check out SporTT on Facebook and Instagram. Youth Sports Camps 2024 venues: Trinidad Aranguez Savannah (cricket, football); Arima (athletics, football); Chaguanas North Secondary (volleyball); Cosmic Boxing Gym, Marabella (boxing); Diego Martin (football); Eastern Regional Indoor Sport Arena, Tacarigua (hockey); Edinburgh 500 Recreation Ground (cricket); Golden Fist Boxing Gym, Petit Valley (boxing); Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella (athletics, rugby); Mayaro Regional Sports Facility (football, netball); National Cycling Velodrome, Couva (cycling, gymnastics); Nelson Mandela Park, Port of Spain (basketball, netball, tennis); Northeastern College (football); Sevilla Golf Club, Couva, (golf, tennis); South West Regional Indoor Arena, Point Fortin basketball); Woodbrook Youth Facility (hockey).
