Tobago man, 69, drowns at Swallows Beach

BERNARD Morris, 69, of Mt St George, drowned at Swallows Beach, Tobago on August 18 while alone for a few minutes after going there with relatives. Police reports said around 2.30pm, Morris was at the beach, off Pigeon Point Road, Crown Point with two relatives. Newsday understands the three went into the water together, but about ten minutes later, the other two returned to the shore. They went back five minutes later and saw Bernard face down in the water. He did not respond when they called out to him. Crown Point police station were called, the Emergency Health Services were contacted and an emergency medical technician did CPR on Bernard. He was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital by ambulance. There he was examined and pronounced dead at 3.30 pm. PC Edwards is continuing enquiries.
