The TT Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) hosted the media in a second sensitisation exercise at the TTSEC’s office at the International Waterfront Centre in Port of Spain on August 15. Media houses attending included Newsday, Guardian Media Ltd (CNC3 and Guardian), One Caribbean Media (Express, TV6 and I.95.5 fm), TTT Ltd, Tobago Channel 5, Power 102, Isaac Radio 98.1, Radio Tambrin and Loop TT. The session was held to improve the media’s understanding of the TTSEC’s mandate, regulatory framework and the various functions it performs to protect investors and maintain market integrity. CEO Kester Guy, in his opening remarks, said the media served as a vital link between the financial world and the general public. "Your reports shape perceptions, influence decisions, and ultimately contribute to the stability and confidence in our financial markets. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the information disseminated is accurate, clear, and reflective of the realities within the local securities industry." Participants got an overview of the securities market, along with presentations from TTSEC staff on the roles of market players, market regulation and surveillance, compliance and inspections and the media’s role in investor protection. Representatives were also presented with certificates of participation by the CEO. The post TTSEC hosts media sensitisation session appeared first on Trinidad and Tobago Newsday.
