Philip Morris: ‘We’ll keep tobacco, nicotine products away from minors’

Philip Morris TT (PMTT) has said it is committed to responsibly marketing its combusted and non-combusted products to protect minors from having access to them. In a release on August 7, general manager Tomas Ayala said the youth must not be able to obtain tobacco and nicotine. "As the leading manufacturer of tobacco and nicotine products, we’re committed to keeping these products out of the wrong hands, especially minors." He said the Youth Access Prevention (YAP) in indirect retail is the programme for preventing the sale of tobacco- and nicotine-containing products to young people. "The programme includes various educational platforms, with online and offline content with training guide, and different materials to be in points of sale." He said it includes 2,270 points of sale with youth prevention communications in TT. "The objective is to educate PMTT´s trade partners on the importance of no underage use of any of its products." Ayala said last year PMTT combined its Smoke Free Vision in TT with the launch of VEEV Now, a Philip Morris electronic cigarette which represents a "risk-reduced" alternative for adult smokers. "VEEV Now is targeted exclusively to adults who would otherwise continue to smoke, including smokers of PMI brands, and other adults who use electronic vape products. "Former users of tobacco, nicotine-containing products and people who have never used these products, especially minors, should never use products containing tobacco, nicotine and even the disposable vape."
