GCTF committee meets in Taipei

The Global Cooperation and Training Framework’s 2025 joint committee meeting was held Sept. 30 in Taipei City, underscoring the commitment among Taiwan and its like-minded partners to tackling global challenges.   According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event was organized by the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association in collaboration with the MOFA, the American Institute in Taiwan, the Australian Office, Taipei, and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei. The British Office Taipei attended as an observer.   During the meeting, representatives reviewed events held this year and discussed various collaborative issues and franchise events set for 2026. The MOFA said these include communications and energy resilience, critical infrastructure and information security protection, and transnational repression, among others.   The ministry said efforts will also be directed toward enhancing the review mechanism of projects, as well as deepening partnerships and promoting youth participation in order to enhance the impact of GCTF events and ensure their sustainable development.   Since its launch in June 2015 by Taiwan and the U.S., GCTF has become a critical platform for contributing discussion on solutions to global issues. The ministry added that under the initiative, more than 90 workshops have been organized with participation from over 10,000 experts and officials from 135 countries and territories on topics spanning energy cooperation, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, media literacy, public health, and women’s empowerment.
