Political parties were not pleased to have been told at the eleventh hour that the tabling of the 2025 budget would be postponed.

South Africa's national budget, which was meant to be tabled on Wednesday, has been postponed until 12 March.

For the first time in history, the 2025 National Budget Speech has been postponed due to disagreements over an alleged 2% VAT increase.

The different political parties in the GNU allegedly couldn't agree on some issues within the Budget Speech, leading to a postponement.

Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana was supposed to deliver the budget speech at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.
