Along the way, thousands of opposition leaders and supporters were killed or maimed. It has not been an easy fight because of the nature of the regime in Zimbabwe. Some “stalwarts of the struggle” have fallen by the way side with many of them either joining ZANU-PF or clandestinely working with the regime to further their own interests."
