PVR Inox Unveils New Technique to Boost Footfalls The multiplex chain PVR Inox developed ScreenIT to help its screen performances through its smartphone application after discovering poor customer attendance. Several changes needed to be done because of the rise of OTT platforms. Launched with over 500 titles in the library and slated to expand beyond 1,000, ScreenIT enables audiences to browse, book, and promote movies at their own discretion. The ticket prices are unchanged to keep the customers affordable. As The Luxury Collection and PVR Inox CEO Renaud Palliere points out, ScreenIT delivers an industry game-changing tool for audience engagement. This project has only positive effects for us. Making the most of our current ability to handle and process movie tickets will benefit our operations. The system allows viewers to share promotional materials about films that normally disappear from cinemas. He added that users can make experience look exactly how they desire and earn money from it. Multiplex theaters across India see fewer visitors every day. Footfalls declined by 6% in 2024, to 883 million, according to Ormax Media. That's much lower than the peak before the pandemic, when it was 1.03 billion in 2019. While higher ticket prices have compensated partially for revenue loss, the industry is far from easy as the Hindi film industry has been reluctant to greenlight fresh projects following a series of recent flops at box offices. Mulplexes like PVR Inox have resorted to re-releasing old hits to fill the content gap. Re-releases have been a godsend so far, and that has helped PVR Inox; it adds up to 6% of its admissions in Q2. With ScreenIT, users can pick from different film genres before selecting their desired screening dates and venues. The movie service operates across 120 screens in 50 cities throughout India. To induce involvement, ScreenIT rewards users for spreading the word through their social network. The instant a user buys tickets using SSN's exclusive promotional link, they receive a money-back bonus of 5%. Our model enables customers to become effective promoters of the content they wish to see. ScreenIT is a very innovative way for PVR Inox to embrace the shift in consumer behavior and create an exciting and rewarding experience at the movies, potentially becoming a benchmark for the multiplex industry.
