'Extreme rainfall' risks to rise for India: Study

A recent IITM study indicated a significant rise in extreme rainfall events in India by the end of the century due to high carbon dioxide emissions. The Western Ghats and central India are projected to be most affected. Areas with extremely heavy rainfall may increase by 18%, with intensity rising by 58%, impacting socio-economic conditions.
