India is preparing to mark its 78th Independence Day on August 15, 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the historic Red Fort for the 11th consecutive year, becoming the first Prime Minister since Pandit Nehru to achieve this milestone. The Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi will host approximately 4,000 distinguished guests. According to a report by The Indian Express, the special guests will include farmers, youth, women, and the underprivileged, who were highlighted by PM Modi as the “four pillars of a developed India” during his first visit to Varanasi after his third consecutive re-election in June. These guests have been categorized into 11 groups. Notably, 1,000 invitations have been extended to those from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare sector. The Youth Affairs category will see 600 guests, while 300 will come from the Women and Child Development sector. There will be 300 guests each from Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, and 350 from Tribal Affairs. Additionally, 200 guests each are invited from the School Education and Literacy sectors and the Border Roads Organisation/Ministry of Defence. From Health and Family Welfare and Sports, there will be 150 guests each. Furthermore, 1,200 special guests are from the Niti Aayog category.
