India is a land of stories, myths and folktales, some of which originate from true incidents. There are many haunted places in India, located across the country, some in ruins while others in beautiful landscapes, and each one has a chilling, horror story behind it. Bhangarh Fort Considered to be the most haunted place in India, the fort was built in Rajasthan in 16th Century as the residence of Madho Singh and is located in the Aravali range of hills in the Alwar district. There are many legends and stories talking about how the place became haunted, but noone knows the truth. However, it is believed that whoever stays there after sunset does not return alive. Shaniwar Wada This historical fort built in 1732 was the residence and a great seat for the Peshwas during the Maratha Empire. The fort is said to be haunted by the ghost of Bajirao's son, Narayanrao, who was murdered in 1773 by his uncle, Raghunathrao and his voice is still heard in the fort calling out to his uncle after sunset. Dumas Beach This beach along the Arabian Sea is located in Surat, Gujarat and has black sand. The beach was an ancient burial ground for Hindus and people believe that spirits still roam there and their whispers can be heard in the night. Agrasen ki Baoli This 60-meter long and 15-meter wide historical stepwell in New Delhi is located near Connaught Place. It has been said that the unusual vibrations and cold in the air intensify as you go deeper. Also, several people have said that the water in the step well is so tempting that they want to plunge in and commit suicide. Ramoji Film City Ramoji Film City is an film studio facility located in Hyderabad, India spreading over 1,666 acres. It is built on the battlefields of the Nizams and is said that the spirits of the deceased soldiers still roam here. Many times, there have been strange writings in Urdu found on the mirrors.
