Japan's Kishida cancels Asia trip after scientists urge preparations for a possible 'megaquake'

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida canceled a trip to Central Asia to manage the government's response to a potential 'megaquake' off Japan's southern coast. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued its first 'megaquake advisory' following a 7.1 magnitude quake near Kyushu. Officials urged heightened caution for a week and advised local governments to review disaster plans.
