Vistara and Air India to Unite From November 12;Know More

On November 12, Vistara will officially become part of Air India. After that date, Vistara flights will use the "AI" flight code instead of "UK," and all bookings will be handled through Air India's website. This marks the final step in merging the two airlines. Beginning September 3, passengers won't be able to book Vistara flights for travel on or after November 12. However, Vistara will still accept bookings and operate flights as usual up until November 11, 2024. Vistara and Air India recently announced a major merger milestone shortly after Singapore Airlines revealed that the Indian government had approved its investment in Air India. Singapore Airlines, which previously owned 49% of Vistara (a joint venture with Tata Sons), will now hold a 25.1% stake in the merged airline. This investment of ₹2,058.5 crore will support a combined fleet of 285 aircraft, which includes Air India, Air India Express, and Vistara. Singapore Airlines stated," This approval, along with other governmental and regulatory approvals received to-date, marks a significant development towards the completion of the merger." If passangers have booked a Vistara flight after November 12, the reservation will be automatically transferred to an Air India flight number. This process will happen gradually throughout September, and passangers receive individual notifications about the change. Mr. Kannan said in a press statement, " We want to emphasize that this merger is about offering customers more choice with a larger fleet and a wider network, while elevating the overall travel experience.
