Final Medal Tally for India at the Paris 2024 Paralympics

India’s participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympics has marked a historic milestone in the country’s sports legacy. With a record-breaking haul of 29 medals—seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze—India has wrapped up its most successful Paralympic campaign to date. Securing 18th place in the overall medals table, this accomplishment not only eclipses the nation's previous records but also underscores India’s growing prominence in the global para-sports landscape. A Remarkable Campaign The Paris Games have been extraordinary for India, with athletes demonstrating remarkable resolve and expertise across a range of events. The campaign concluded with a dramatic note as Pooja Ojha narrowly missed the women’s kayak 200m final, yet the overall performance has been a reason for immense pride. One of the standout moments of India’s campaign was Navdeep Singh’s dramatic success in the men’s javelin throw F41. Initially securing silver with a throw of 47.32m, Navdeep's medal was upgraded to gold after Iran’s Beit Sadegh was disqualified for a code of conduct breach. This win was particularly gratifying for Navdeep, who had missed out on a podium finish at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Track-and-field events proved exceptionally fruitful for India, contributing 17 medals to the total. Preethi Pal made history as the first Indian woman to medal in athletics, clinching bronze in both the 100m and 200m (T35) sprints. Additionally, Sumit Antil excelled in the men’s javelin throw F64, defending his title and setting new world records. Historic Achievements in Other Disciplines In shooting, Avani Lekhara successfully defended her Tokyo 2020 title in the women's 10m air rifle standing SH1, adding another gold to her prestigious career. In para-badminton, Thulasimathi Murugesan made history as the first Indian woman to win a medal, claiming silver in the women’s singles SU5. The Indian women's para-badminton team also contributed three additional medals, marking their first-ever Paralympic podium finishes.
