The IMD has announced a "yellow alert" for four Telangana districts—Jayashankar Bhupalapalle, Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, and Mulugu—forecasting heavy rainfall on September 4. Andhra Pradesh’s NTR and Krishna districts are also under an orange alert. The Hyderabad meteorological center forecasts heavy rain in certain Telangana areas through September 7. Local news outlets have reported that the Andhra Pradesh government has announced a school and college holiday in NTR district on September 4 due to the heavy rain. The IMD detected a cyclonic circulation situated between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and adjacent regions. The weather agency also noted that a new low-pressure area is expected to develop over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5. Intense rainfall in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has resulted in 35 fatalities, road damage, submerged rail tracks, and extensive crop flooding. Residents are facing difficulties in meeting daily necessities while rescue and recovery operations are underway. Union minister G Kishan Reddy mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have communicated with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, promising all required support in light of the ongoing floods. Reddy highlighted substantial damage, especially in the Khammam and Mahabubabad regions, where floodwaters have invaded residents' homes. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan criticized the previous YRSCP government, accusing it of neglecting the Budameru canal stream and disregarding smaller irrigation projects, which he argues aggravated the flood impact.
