Motsepe sets vision for African football after re-election

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming African football following his re-election for a second term at the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo.Outlining his vision for the next four years, Motsepe stated the need for competitiveness on the global stage, financial stability, and improved infrastructure across the continent."The goal remains making African football competitive on the international stage, stabilising finances, and investing in infrastructure that allows our teams and players to thrive," he stated.CAF has recorded significant financial progress under Motsepe, including a $72 million profit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, an increase in prize money for club and national competitions, and a reduction in the number of countries unable to host domestic football from 36 to 12.Motsepe’s second term is expected to focus on further commercial growth, stronger partnerships, and continued development of African football infrastructure.
