Buriram United bolsters attack with Italian-Ghanaian striker Martin Boakye

Thai football giants Buriram United have secured a dynamic addition to their frontline, signing seasoned striker Martin Boakye for the second half of the season.The 29-year-old Italian-Ghanaian forward joins from Chinese Super League side Qingdao Hainiu, bringing a wealth of international experience to bolster the team’s offensive firepower.Boakye, born in Valdagno, Italy, began his football journey with UCD Solisinese before embarking on a professional career in Austria’s lower leagues. His stint at FC Kitzbühel saw him net an impressive 33 goals in 74 matches. Later, he showcased his talents in Luxembourg with Junesse Club and in Croatia’s top league with Slaven Belupo.Boakye’s journey across borders continued as he moved to Asia, playing in Uzbekistan for FC Andijan and FC OKMK Almaric. His 85 appearances for the latter yielded 32 goals, earning him a spot in the AFC Champions League 2023/24, where he found the back of the net twice in seven games.Boakye’s versatility and proven scoring ability position him as a key figure in Buriram United’s quest for silverware this season.
