Western Region secured a thrilling victory in the 2024 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship final, defeating Eastern Region 2-1 with a dramatic injury-time goal.The match, held on Thursday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, saw Benedict Afful score the decisive goal in the 93rd minute to seal the win for his team.Western Region took the lead in the 17th minute when Stephen Cobbinah scored his sixth goal of the tournament. However, Eastern Region responded swiftly, levelling the match in the 28th minute with a penalty converted by Shaibu Abubakar. The match appeared destined for a 1-1 draw until Afful's last-minute heroics clinched the title for Western Region. Afful’s goal, his sixth of the campaign, capped off a dominant performance by his team throughout the 12-day championship.This victory marks Western Region's first-ever title in the KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, a tournament established in 2021 to discover and develop young football talents in Ghana.
