Kwadwo Obeng Jr reveals failed move to South Africa as he starts life at Heart of Lions

Kwadwo Obeng Jr. has revealed that his anticipated move to a South African club has fallen through having now joined Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League.Despite his strong performance for Hearts of Oak during the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, the transfer to the South African club did not materialise.In an interview with Asempa FM, Obeng Jr. disclosed, "I was joining a club in South Africa, but the deal is off for now."Following the collapse of his South African move, Obeng Jr. has signed with Heart of Lions. He debuted for the Kpando-based side in the 2024 Homowo Cup, where he played against his former team, Hearts of Oak, at the Accra Sports Stadium. Obeng Jr. scored in the match, which ended in a dramatic 8-7 penalty shootout victory for Hearts of Oak.During his tenure with Hearts of Oak, Obeng Jr. achieved notable success, including winning the 2020/21 Premier League title and two FA Cups.His experience and goal-scoring prowess are expected to be significant assets for Heart of Lions as they look to build a strong campaign for the upcoming season.
