Samartex coach emphasises character for CAF Champions League

Samartex FC coach, Nurudeen Amadu, has stressed the importance of character in his squad as they prepare for their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.The Ghanaian champions will face Cameroonian side Victoria United in the preliminary round, with the first leg scheduled for August 18 in Cameroon.Amadu believes that mental fortitude will be crucial in overcoming the challenges of continental competition.He stated that while talent is essential, players with strong character are more likely to succeed in the high-pressure environment of the CAF Champions League."We will travel to Cameroon with players that have character. Fighting spirit is key in football, if you don’t make an effort, no matter how good you are as a player, talent alone will not work. So we will see how we approach the game," he said.Samartex are currently in Togo for a pre-season training camp, where they recently drew 0-0 with ASKO de Kara in a friendly match.Samartex will host the return of their clash with Victoria United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, August 25.
