Black Stars goalkeepers coach, Fatau Dauda, has advised footballers to prioritise obtaining coaching certificates before transitioning into management roles.The former Ghana international emphasised that playing at the highest level does not automatically qualify someone to be a successful coach.Dauda, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career with clubs like AshantiGold and represented Ghana at the World Cup, took up coaching soon after retiring.He has already gained experience working with the Sudan national team before joining Otto Addo’s technical team with the Black Stars.Speaking to Joy Sports, Dauda highlighted the importance of formal education in coaching.“The way you play is different from being a coach. If you have played football before or if you have been a top player or a professional, that doesn’t mean you can be a coach,” he said.He continued, “If you want to be a coach, you need to learn. When I started coaching, I realized that if you don’t learn, you can’t be a coach.
