Former Ghana FA VP pays tribute to late CAF President Issa Hayatou

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President Fred Pappoe has expressed his condolences on the passing of former CAF President Issa Hayatou.Hayatou passed away in Paris at the age of 78 and will be buried in Cameroon this weekend.Pappoe, in an interview with Peace FM, described Hayatou as a strong supporter of Ghanaian football. He specifically highlighted Hayatou's assistance during Ghana's successful bid to host the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN)."I don't think it is a good way of describing Issa of course we are humans we have problems here and there but generally not just me Issa was during his tenure he was a friend of Ghana football," Pappoe said."Not just me but those who had brushes with him throughout his life will attest to that fact during our time with our leader Kwesi Nyantakyi general secretary Kofi Nsiah, when we were bidding to host the CAN 2008. Issa was a very helpful person. Ghana football was very dear to him," he added.Hayatou served as CAF President for nearly three decades, from 1988 to 2017.
