Victoria United coach laments CAF Champions League exit after Samartex defeat
Victoria United coach Daniel Walinjom expressed his disappointment following their elimination from the CAF Champions League by Samartex.The Ghanaian champions secured a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium, completing a 2-0 aggregate win.After the match, Walinjom acknowledged that their defeat in the first leg at home in Cameroon was a significant setback."It was an interesting game because we came with all the determination to have a successful qualification. We faced some difficulties back in Cameroon," Walinjom said.He added, "We should have had a better result at home, and then we would have secured qualification, but it's unfortunate that we could not achieve that."Walinjom highlighted the inexperience of his young squad, many of whom are new to this level of competition, as a contributing factor to their struggles."We have a very young team. Most of our players are still developing and have not yet reached full maturity in football. Some are playing at this level for the first time, which presented many challenges," he concluded.Meanwhile, Samartex move on to face Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
