The Black Princesses, Ghana U20 female team, were held to a goalless draw in a pre-World Cup friendly against Mexico in Colombia on Thursday evening. The West African nation are preparing ahead of the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup which begins on August 31, 2024, in Bogota, Colombia.Having spent the past two months preparing in Ghana, the Black Princesses made an early trip to Bogota to continue training and familiarize themselves with the weather.In a pulsating encounter, the Mexicans got close early in the match but the Black Princesses dealt with the threat as they gradually grew into the game.Ghana's best chance in the first half came through Salamatu Abdullai but her strike went wide off.After the break, captain Stella Nyamekye came close before Mexico tested the Black Princesses shot-stopper later on.The two teams used the friendly to fine tune their squad ahead of the tournament.The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will kick off in Colombia from Saturday, August 31 - Sunday, September 22, 2024.The Black Princesses will open their campaign against Austria on September 2 before taking on Japan and New Zealand in the other group E matches.
