Wigan sign Ghanaian forward Maleace Asamoah from Fleetwood Town

Wigan Athletic have strengthened their attack with the signing of English-born Ghanaian forward Maleace Asamoah from Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.The 21-year-old, who signed a three-year deal at the Brick Community Stadium, began his career at Reading's Academy and gained experience in Greece with Kalamata and Olympiacos Volos.He later played for New Salamis FC, where his standout performances drew attention from several clubs.Asamoah joined Fleetwood Town in 2023, making his debut against Carlisle United, and impressed during a loan spell at Waterford in the League of Ireland, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 17 appearances.Wigan is counting on Asamoah's versatility and goal-scoring ability to bolster their forward options this season.The deal, announced on August 30, 2024, is pending approval from the EFL and FA.
